They showdown against Tobias Whale, the man who killed Alvin Pierce, Jefferson's father, the grandfather of Anissa and Jennifer. They discover that Tobias was the one who unintentionally gave them their powers during one of his experiments, and that he killed Alvin because he was researching it.
