The ghosts of Barbara and Adam, a married couple, continue to live in their house. When Barbara's sister sells the house to an unbearable family, they attempt to scare them out without success. Their efforts attract Beetlejuice, a rambunctious spirit whose "help" quickly turns dangerous for everyone.
