James Gordon, a new recruit from the Gotham City Police Department, is associated with veteran detective Harvey Bullock to solve Thomas and Martha Wayne murders. Gordon meets Wayne's son Bruce, who is now in the care of Butler Alfred Pennyworth. In addition, he also meets band member Oswald Cobblepot, clever Edward Nygma, enlisted agent Jay Kerr, as well as street orphans Selina Kyle and Pamela "Ivy" Pepper, public prosecutor Harvey Dent, and doctor Leslie Thompkins. Gordon gets involved with Gotham's criminal families, Carmine Falcone and Salvatore Maroni.
