In rain-soaked Gotham, Bruce Wayne lives as a feral mechanic above a garage, waging a savage one-man war on crime using military surplus and hockey gear. Newly transferred Detective James Gordon, an honest cop in a corrupt department, battles brutal colleagues, a pregnant wife, and a commissioner who controls the underworld. As Batman terrorizes pimps, dealers, and dirty cops, Gordon must choose between the system and an alliance with the creature Gotham fears. Their uneasy partnership culminates in a bloody confrontation that shatters corruption and births the Dark Knight.
