After the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne a savior was born from the shot that took their lives. He isn't darkness but someone who protects others from the darkness that surrounds him. He is a way for those who feel that the road is too long and the path travels too far. He is vengeance and the will to bring those who need it to justice. He is the night when the sun starts to fall.
