Story Plot

Batman: Dark War is a 2022 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Batman and inspired by the Injustice comics and the film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Produced by DC Films and RatPac-Dune Entertainment and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is the first film in the DC Blood War Universe. Directed by Lexi Alexander, who wrote the screenplay with Zack Snyder, the film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Elizabeth Olsen, Peter Sarsgaard, James McAvoy, Jim Caviezel, Natalie Portman, Denzel Washington, Jaimie Alexander, Anya Taylor-Joy, Timothèe Chalamet, Sterling K. Brown, and Patrick Stewart. Batman: Dark War was released on October 26th, 2022; it received overwhelmingly positive reviews upon release, with critics praising the visual effects, direction, screenplay, action sequences, the serious and dark tone, musical score, performances (particularly from Morgan, Olsen, Sarsgaard and Caviezel) and the emotionally thematic elements. The film was a box-office success and performed far above expectations, grossing $791 million worldwide. Two sequels are in development, while a film focusing on Livewire is scheduled to be released on 2024.

  • Plot: The Justice League battle the evil Lex Luthor and the Legion of Doom. The league is victorious, but Superman coldly and violently cripples Luthor with his lazer vision from the waist down, confining him to a wheelchair. Superman forms the Justice Lords, and demands Batman to join, but he refuses partial to the demand, but loses the no killing rule.
  • 20 years later, Batman, as Bruce Wayne, is now a politician and has renamed his company as Wayne Elemental Industries. As Batman, he forms and leads the Dark Syndicate, consisting of Raven, Luthor himself, Catwoman, Martian Manhunter, and Livewire. The Justice Lords, led by Superman, consists of Wonder Woman, Damian Wayne, and Cyborg, and Superman becomes a totalitarian dictator. Although the Dark Syndicate has lost the no killing rule, they protect the world and it's people from the Justice Lords.
  • Batman's butler, Alfred, discovers that Superman's weakness is no longer kryptonite, as he is now powered by them. Alfred also receives message from Superman's late wife, Lois, that reads "Clark is not the man I once knew. Bruce, if you're reading this, you MUST kill him." Bruce responds to the message and refuses to kill Superman at first, but Alfred convinces him that he is a dangerous fanatic and that there is "no other way".
  • Raven fights Wonder Woman, while Livewire and the Flash battle Cyborg. Martian Manhunter fights Superman, but he proves too powerful and strong, and he kills Martian Manhunter, only to realize that he knew he was going to die. Cyborg is defeated and is convinced by Livewire that Superman is not the symbol of hope anymore.
  • Wonder Woman refuses to side with Batman, causing Raven to turn her in. Batman confront Superman, and they engage in combat. Raven then fights Damian and defeats him, but she convinces him to side with Batman after she and him both love Damian. During their fight, Batman admits that he failed to protect the people the way he intended to, and Superman berates him and states that it is too late to apologize. Batman then shoots Superman with a blue kryptonite bullet, as the green kryptonite would have been no use anymore, and Superman is blasted away by the bullet into the sun as Batman falls back into Earth's orbit.
  • Batman is then saved by Raven and they both land safely on Gotham City. The Dark Syndicate vow to be the new symbol of hope for the world, while Superman, revealed to have barely survived, emerges from the sun as the end credits roll.
  • While I'm glad you chose to go with an original storyline rather than just adapting Injustice, I strongly protest Billy Zane as Lex. Utterly and completely. I have never once seen a performance of his where I believed he was intelligent or deeper than just "Billy Zane but x". Other than that, I think you're on the right track.
  • @castingsinmyblood I'm not particularly a fan of that either, but it was him or no one at all. I'm gonna give you the permission, but SPECIFICALLY you to not only update the description, but change the actor.
