Ryan Anderson is a 24 year old man who lives in Compton. Ryan is immature and rebellious and he still lives with his mother, Grace. Ryan doesn't get along with her new boyfriend, Marlon. Marlon is a former criminal who was arrested once, but he dropped out crime's life for his own good. When Ryan and his young brother George was child they saw one night their father being shooted by a rival gang, that's why Ryan has a rebellious behavior and Grace is fearful that Ryan and George have the same fate if they go in crime world. Ryan is in a 5 years relationship with Emily Decker, a girl who is also from Compton and is same age as Ryan. Emily became a mother with 16 in 1997. She creates alone her 8 year son, Tyler, alone. Tyler was born into a abusive teenage relationship between her mother with Ronnie, a dangerous drug dealer and gangster. Ronnie was arrested in 1999 when Tyler was 2. Emily wants Ryan to get out his mom's house and marry her to being a father for Tyler. But despite dating, Ryan is also womanizer and promiscuous, he cheats on Emily with several girls, among them is Heather, his ex girlfriend when he was teenage. Things get worse when Ronnie is released from prison.
