Coming together to face down threats too great for any one hero alone, the Avengers have long been Earth's first line of defence against all manner of deadly foes. Alien invaders, mechanical robots and even corrupt government officials have all been soundly defeated by this band of mighty champions. Despite their many victories, the team's various members have also suffered numerous tragedies, some still haunt them to this day. Tony Stark is one of those; forever burdened with the fact that he was responsible for the creation of the deadly robot Ultron. And then came a day unlike any other, when Earth's Mightiest Heroes were torn asunder! On that day, the Avengers faced their end - assailed by a barrage of foes and terrible disasters that not even their combined powers could withstand. Through the years, they have battled valiantly, overcoming insurmountable odds, but never until this fateful day has their glory been denied!
