Heimdall (/ˈheɪmdɑːl/)[1] is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is based on the Norse deity Heimdallr. Heimdall is described as all-seeing and all-hearing and is the sole protector of the Bifröst in Asgard. Idris Elba portrayed the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Thor (2011),[2] Thor: The Dark World (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015),[3] Thor: Ragnarok (2017), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).
