Story Plot

This is for imagining what a film for television adaptation Karen Hancock's novel "Arena" would look like. This is a Christian science fiction book that focuses on Callie Hayes, a young woman who, in need of extra money, reluctantly joins her friend for what they think to be simple college psychology tests. However, Callie winds up in over her head as she somehow gets transported to an alien world where if she steps off the white path can become prey to vicious creatures and plants ready to take her. The only other resources she has are a hard to read manual (other than a few small instructions), and a stranger she meets named Pierce Andrews, struggling with traumas of his from the Arena's dangers. As they progress, they, along with Pierce's friends, must choose as to work together and trust the benefactor to guide them to the inner realm and that he truly has their best interests at heart, or give in to the temptations and deception that lurks at every corner. Many have referred to this as a blending of "The Pilgrim's Progress" and "The Matrix." Personally, I would agree and add that it has reminiscent elements of "The Hunger Games" and "Jumanji," as well. I would also like to point out it has averaged 4-star reviews and won a Christy Award.
