Character Description
Emily Brent is a cold, self-righteous woman who appears quite unconcerned despite the raging storm and the frightening murders taking place by the day. When asked about the crime she supposedly perpetrated, she simply replies that after firing her maid, who became pregnant out of wedlock, the poor girl committed suicide. Chilled by Miss Brent's ruthless sense of justice, Vera Claythorne begins to wonder if it could not lead to violent murder influenced by a misplaced idea of righteousness.
