American Psycho is a 1991 horror novel by Bret Easton Ellis. The book is told from the perspective of Patrick Bateman, a wealthy investment banker who also leads a double life as a serial killer. The novel explores the depths of madness and violence, and some consider it controversial for its themes of mental health, disorders, violence, and murder.
