ok first in my version iris is adopted (how creative) hence the change of race. here iris is the head of pictures news, and linda park's boss, iris has become a little bitter after the "death of barry", she has stayed in charge of wally and does what she can to support and advise him in his missions, sometimes overprotecting him to prevent the same thing that happened to Barry from happening to him, since it is the only family he has left after Barry and his closest relatives
