Grew in a working-class Mexican-American family in Southern California. His father worked construction while his mother worked various service jobs. He grew up understanding that money had to be earned and that people couldn't always afford to chase their dreams. Hd developed an interest in photography and filmmaking during high school. He dreamed about attending film school and eventually becoming a cinematographer. After graduating, however, financial responsibilities at home forced him to postpone college. Years later, he's still working toward figuring out how to return to that dream.
