Its creators sold it to Detective Comics, Inc. in 1938 for $130[5] and the character's first adventure was published in Action Comics #1 (June 1938), to later appear in various radio serials, television programs , movies, periodical strips and video games. With the success of his adventures, this character defined the superhero and established his primacy within American comics.[1] His character appearance is distinctive and became iconic: a blue and red costume, with a cape and an emblem with a stylized letter "S" on his chest,[6][7][8] which has become a symbol of the character.[9] Superman was born on the planet Krypton and was given the name Kal-El at birth. As a baby, his parents, the scientist Jor-El, and his wife Lara Lor-Van, sent him to Earth in a small spaceship moments before Krypton was destroyed in a natural cataclysm. His ship landed in the American countryside, near the fictional town of Smallville. He was found and adopted by farmers Jonathan and Martha Kent, who named him Clark Kent. Clark developed various superhuman abilities, such as incredible strength and impermeable skin.
