Story Plot

In this entertaining fantasy series opener, billed as a prequel to Colfer's Land of Stories series, a girl pursues her destiny, defying the rigid gender roles and draconian laws of a kingdom that has outlawed magic and forbidden women from reading.After being caught and convicted, Brystal is saved by a mysterious woman named Madame Weatherberry. The woman takes Brystal to her Academy of Magic and teaches her to become a fairy. ... When she doesn't return, Brystal and her friends work together to find and save their instructor.
