Synopsis

Set in a medieval fantasy world, the series primarily follows various political and supernatural threats to the Seven Kingdoms, a vast nation still recovering from a civil war that ousted the previous ruling dynasty of three centuries, the Targaryens. As the nobles busy themselves playing the game of thrones, a supernatural threat looms beyond the Wall to the far north that threatens to destroy the Seven Kingdoms and drive the continent into a permanent winter. [don't suggest the television cast unless the ages match]

Description of Melisandre:

A red-clad sorceress and Shadowbinder, Melisandre is an adviser to Stannis Baratheon and his wife. She is a priestess of R'hllor, the Lord of Light, and while various organizations claim (with varying degrees of probable truth) to use "spells", she is one of the few indisputably magical characters in the entire series. Melisandre preaches a message of tolerance and peace... by having people burned alive for the greater good. Her goal is to prepare the world for the War for the Dawn to save humanity from the threat of the Others.
