Larry Gopnik is a university professor of physics in the sixties and his life is falling apart. His wife leaves him, his unemployed brother moves in with him, and someone tries to sabotage his work. Larry seeks advice from three different priests, but it remains to be seen if someone can help him with his many afflictions.
