  • nathanbates Yes, it's a remake of the Arkham History story that I did last year. Something about it never really sat right with me and I had been thinking about going back and editing it before I realized that I had enough changes to simply do the whole story over again. Two chapters remain largely unchanged, though recast.

  • nathanbates A quick run-down of the chapters (there is a brief synopsis on the first role of every chapter as well): Chapter 1 adapts the Amadeus Arkham flashbacks from the Grant Morrison comic, though more explicitly tying it back to Batman's own origins. It Amadeus: Year One. Chapter 2 is about Bruce's mom meeting the Mad Hatter as a girl while she was interned at her family's asylum. She becomes the hatter's latest "Alice' and his influence twists her fear of her parents until she begins to see them as the oppressive king and queen from Wonderland. Chapter 3 is classic claustrophobic horror. Think Alien but in a sewer with a giant crocodile man. Chapter 4 is another direct adaptation, this time of Neil Gaiman's Black Orchid. I meant it as the mirror opposite of the Martha Wayne story and as a rare instance where the asylum actually helps someone. Chapter 5 is based on The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Jeremiah Arkham falls under the influence of a nefarious hypnotist and begins slaughtering the patients, eventually becoming one himself and the asylum, at long last, falls into the hands of Hugo Strange.
