  • nathanbates Newly abridged: in the late 1970s, with all its members well into adulthood and their popularity on the wane, the Scooby gang seemed on the verge of splitting up. For Fred, this meant a serious existential crisis. Despite being the oldest and their ostensible leader, he was also always the most dependent. Fred spiraled. It got the point that he was often left alone with no one else to confide in but… the dog. Fred even swore it spoke back. In a daze, he concocted a plan to reunite his estranged friends and restore the Mystery Machine to its former glory. With the aid of a strange young man named Forester, Fred would use the dark reputation of the Spears Manor to scare the nearby townsfolk into contracting the gang for an unforgettable new case. But while Fred was away, Forester took the concept and ran with it. On a fateful full moon night, the gang found themselves way in over their heads. Forester had transformed the manor into a maze of death. Velma, Shaggy and Scooby perished gruesomely, leaving a repentant Fred to reveal his terrible secret to Daphne. In the end, even she succumbed to the monster of Fred’s own making. Forester disappeared that night and Fred retreated from society. The Scooby Gang was no more. In the present day, a bright young girl named Carrie finds the embittered old ascot enthusiast and brings him along on a journey back to the Spears Manor. Back to that nightmarish tomb full of weakness, betrayal and blood. And who else might still inhabit the cursed grounds? Very same ghost Fred conjured up all those years ago?

    • nathanbates @nathanbates well, that’s my ruined childhood entry. A tale of youth and optimism undone by weakness of character. Also someone cuts Shaggy’s legs off (don’t ask me how Velma dies.) I hope ya’ll find this is as darkly funny as I did. It’s not something I would ever want to see made in real life but taking such a concept to its extremes makes me chuckle.

  • nathanbates I’m gotta finish up the write up for this one. It may take a while but this is the completed cast. Spoilers: it won’t be supernatural in nature but it’s still an inappropriately dark take on Scooby-Doo.

    • lorog @nathanbates Even though the Crossover just already happened, I bet they spoke to each other and realized they had the same voice. And also, does Scooby talk like a normal human, or the same way he talks in the original Franchise?
