    @castingsinmyblood Oh, thank you so much for the comment! I hadn't thought about a director - in some ways I think Merchant-Ivory would've been a great fit, as they did some amazing, beautifully produced classic lit adaptations in the 80s and 90s (Room with a View, Maurice, Howard's End) and typically stayed quite true to their source material

    @castingsinmyblood (cont'd) I'm not sure how well they would've handled the horror aspect, though. So we could go in another direction and choose more of a horror director than a period drama director. Ideally you'd want someone who could balance those two aspects, but it's hard to think of a director who's known for both!
