Hey, thanks for the feedback! No one is trying to become a billionaire off myCast, lol. The site costs us over $2,500 a month just to keep the lights on — and that's before any development work. We had to rebuild the entire platform from scratch, which wasn't free either.
To be clear: every feature from the current site stays free. Nothing you use today is going behind a paywall. What we're building are new tools on top of the existing experience — optional extras for people who want them. The goal is to cover our costs and reinvest in making myCast better, instead of plastering the site with more ads.
And that idiot has been giving you a free platform to fancast on since 2018, so... you're welcome 😄
Bullshit. I just created a story, and I'm not allowed to add any characters until I upgrade to a paid subscription.
@ robbywhite: Personally, I’d prefer a model based on voluntary contributions rather than a subscription system. myCast isn’t Netflix. This site thrives on active user engagement, not passive content viewing. And honestly, these days, people think twice about paying another monthly fee for a platform, because the cost of living keeps rising. If you went this route, I’m sure most of the people who enjoy coming back here would send you something from time to time.
@darksith has a point. I really want some of the old features free again, like deleting casting suggestions or searching up cast suggestions if you didn’t have specific actors in mind and wanted similar actors. Those were wonderful features and to see them behind a paywall especially hurts. I hope my pleas have been heard, for this is my only hope..
Yeah I agree with all the above, plus I get what they invested a lot into this new design but you know the old saying 'if it aint broke don't fix it'. It just kinda feels a little pointless since I think the old design was perfectly fine on its own. The only real issue were Ads but that's it.
