Synopsis

Ten-year-old Lewis goes to live with his oddball uncle in a creaky old house that contains a mysterious `tick tock' noise. He soon learns that Uncle Jonathan and his feisty neighbour, Mrs Zimmerman, are powerful practitioners of the magic arts. When Lewis accidentally awakens the dead, the town's sleepy facade suddenly springs to life, revealing a secret and dangerous world of witches, warlocks and deadly curses.

Description of Uncle Jonathan Barnavelt:

Listen to me please and please respect my opinion. I think and we can all agree that Jack Black is irreplaceable for the role of Uncle Jonathan Barnavelt. His comedic timing and presence fits the character perfectly, but the only thing I is that I feel like Jack Black went “too Jack Black” for the role. It was hard finding an actor that can match up to Jack Black, but I think Keanu Reeves would’ve worked out better, in fact, in my opinion, he MIGHT be a better choice! He has good timing, especially in his role in Always Be My Maybe, I mean, imagine Keanu shouting and calling out “HA HA HA HA, DID YOU SEE THAT?!” during one of the fight sequences.
