The Ruler of Dreamlight Valley, referred to as the Player, is the playable character of Disney Dreamlight Valley. The former ruler of the valley, their curiosity accidentally created The Forgotten, a darker aspect of themselves, who forced them and everyone in their home to forget each other. After living in reality for some time, Merlin reached the Ruler through their dreams, though he did not remember who they were. They took up the mantle as the "New Ruler" and began to attempt to fix the valley. The Ruler can be given any name, appearance or gender based on player preference. Their dialogue is also often multi-choice, allowing for different personality expressions.
