Synopsis

Tensions rise between best friends Mario and Sonic as they try to live their lives without saving the multiverse. Link breaks up with Zelda, a misunderstanding left unforgiven. Suddenly, a threat more powerful than the ancient Master Hand himself has emerged: Tabuu, and his creation of the realm known as Subspace. Tabuu has sent every famous location of each world, excluding Sonic's, to Subspace so he can absorb the power of the people and their warriors to increase his own. He has absorbed the power of most of the Smash fighters, making them into figurines, and only a handful remain (From Mario to Sonic in the cast). Without Sonic to help them, with new arrivals like the redeemed Mewtwo, the cocky newbies Pit and Lucario, and with Link and Zelda distant, this could really be the end of Mario and the Smash fighters. Unless a spiky blue hedgehog comes into the fight at the last second.

Description of Sonic (Surprise hero at the ending):

Sonic has declared he is no longer friends with Mario because of Sonic's need for action and Mario's urge to settle down with Peach. So Sonic runs off back to his world, only helping his own world. But on the way there, he stumbled upon the Fire Emblem world when Tabuu took that world, and Sonic accidentally with it. He eventually got lost and thought he was wrong about being friends with Mario just because of what they do. It's what they are. Then by the final battle of this movie, when Tabuu was going to destroy all the fighters, both main and back from being trophies, Sonic saved them and "spin-dashed" Tabuu, and giving Mario help.
