A direct adaptation of Mortal Kombat 9, starting with the apocalyptic battle of Armageddon and Raiden's desperate time-travel message to his past self: "He must win." This jumpstarts a new timeline where Raiden tries to alter fate, but every action only makes things worse. Begins at the end: Armageddon. Shao Kahn stands victorious. Raiden, dying, sends a message to his younger self. Young Raiden gathers Earthrealm’s warriors (Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Jax, etc.) for the Mortal Kombat tournament. Introduce Shang Tsung’s island, Scorpion/Sub-Zero rivalry, and the resurrection of Kitana's curiosity about her past. Traditional MK tournament unfolds. Raiden is confused as events change unpredictably (e.g., Kung Lao dies early, Sub-Zero becomes Cyber Sub-Zero). Flashbacks reveal each fighter’s personal stakes. Mileena’s origin, the Lin Kuei cyber initiative, and Outworld’s politics come into play. Shao Kahn violates the rules by merging realms outside the tournament. Earthrealm falls into chaos. Sindel’s massacre of Earthrealm warriors shocks audiences. Raiden finally realizes “He must win” refers not to Liu Kang—but to Shao Kahn, in order to trigger the Elder Gods’ intervention. Climactic battle: Liu Kang vs Raiden (who’s trying to stop him), followed by Raiden vs Shao Kahn with Elder Gods intervening. Ends with Raiden victorious—but alone. Earthrealm is saved, but Liu Kang is dead. Raiden is now darker. Tease Quan Chi and Shinnok.
