Littlefoot's mother is a fictional character first introduced in the 1988 animated film The Land Before Time. She is an apatosaurus (referred to as a longneck according to other herbivorous dinosaurs in the movie's universe) who besides being the mother of the protagonist, she is also the daughter of Grandma and Grandpa Longneck, Littlefoot's maternal grandparents, and the mate of Bron. Mama Longneck loves Littlefoot dearly and tells him about the existence of the Great Valley, an oasis that is full of plants and water for enough herbivorous dinosaurs to eat and drink while many herds travel there in order to survive without starving and be safe from predators, despite having never seen the place before. Later, she fights against a t-rex (sharptooth) that attacked Littlefoot and a triceratops (Cera) earlier, but dies from injuries sustained while fighting against the carnivore along with presumably an earthquake that struck. Her spirit returns to guide Littlefoot to the Great Valley when he becomes lost along with other infant herbivorous dinosaurs he's befriended who seek to find their own families while on their way to the Great Valley in hopes that their families have also traveled there.
