Grandpa Longneck is a fictional character from The Land Before Time franchise first introduced in the first film and plays a major role throughout the series. He is Littlefoot's maternal grandfather, Grandma Longneck's mate, the father of Littlefoot's mother, and father-in-law to Bron. Both Grandpa Longneck and his mate are Littlefoot's main caregivers ever since the death of their daughter, serving as parents to their grandson. Other than giving Littlefoot advice when needed and protecting him, both Grandpa and Grandma Longneck have shared leadership in the Great Valley by keeping peace between other dinosaurs that inhabit the valley by welcoming visitors and newcomers, passing judgement on criminals, deciding courses of action for all of the herds, and providing for common defenses when danger is near.
