Mirabel and her family all live happily in Casita, but when a new magic appears in the village, and Abuela disappears, Mirabel, Luisa, Isabela, Antonio, Camilo and Dolores must go and explore the outside world to discover what is causing this strange magic, and find Abuela. On the way, they meet new characters, like Alejandro, an old traveller who the family later finds out is Abuela's brother, and Maria, a girl who is keen to help out the Madrigal family. But they also meet villains, like the evil Carlos, who turns out to be behind the disappearance of Abuela, and the one who caused the evil magic in the village. It turns out he was turned away when he tried to come and live in the village, and from then on he vowed to destroy Casita and the village with the magic that lurks outside of Casita. He has spent years trying to get the magic to Casita, and the Madrigals find out that he got the evil magic in when Pepa caused a storm. He rode in on the clouds, and then let the magic go wild in Casita. Can the Madrigals convince Carlos to join the good side? Or can he never just forgive and forget?
