Joker Takes Top Billing- Weekend Box Office October 4-6, 2019

Smile empty soul.

As expected Joker opened up #1 at the box office and broke the October weekend recored set by Venom last year. The Joaquin Phoenix character study of Batman's greatest villain made $93.5 million besting Tom Hardy's symbiote love fest by $13 million. A lot has been made over the last few weeks about the dangers the movie may pose, but audiences did not let that detract them from going to the theater. Overseas Joker brought in $152.2 million for a worldwide total of $245.7 million. DC may have something here with the mid-range budget movies. Joker was made for around $50 million and Shazam was made for around $100 and both are going to have great profit.

Abominable was second with $12 million and Downton Abbey was third with $8 million. Hustlers kept its run to $100 million going with another $6.3 million. It: Chapter 2 crossed $200 million domestically with $5.3 million and Judy made $4.4 million that is more than its previous weekend after adding more theaters.

Next week is a busy one with Will Smith's Gemini Man where he and his twin try and find out what happened to Jazzy Jeff and The Addams Family are back.
