Frozen 2 Breaks Thanksgiving Record- Weekend Box Office November 29- December 1, 2019

Turkey, Dressing and Olaf

Frozen 2 ate everyone's Thanksgiving money over the five day weekend breaking November's Thanksgiving record held by The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The sequel made $85.2 million over the three day weekend and $123.7 million over the five day holiday. In two weeks it has made $738.6 million worldwide. Frozen 2 should become the sixth Disney movie to make $1 billion this year including Avengers: Endgame, The Lion King, Captain Marvel, Toy Story 4 and Aladdin.

The newcomers this weekend did well with Rian Johnson's Knives Out coming in second with $27 million over the three day weekend and $41.7 million over the holiday while Queen & Slim made $11.7 million.

Next week should be a third week of Frozen 2 taking the top spot. The only release next week is Playmobil: The Movie based on the toy line. Think of it as a breather week in between Frozen 2 and Jumanji: The Next Level then Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
