March 11, 2024
Hey there, fellow wastelanders and vault dwellers! The announcement of Amazon Prime Video's adaptation of the iconic "Fallout" video game series has gamers and sci fi fans on the edge of their seat. The blend of dark humor, retro-futuristic vibes, and post-apocalyptic tension makes Fallout a perfect fit for a modern series. And guess what? We got a firsthand glimpse into what we can expect from the show at SXSW 2024.
So, grab your Nuka-Cola, settle in, and let's dive into the world of "Fallout" on Prime while you dream up our perfect cast for each role.
Fan Casting Fallout: Your Turn, Vault Dwellers
Before we get too far, if you came here to start casting votes for your favorite actors to play roles in the Fallout show on Prime then you can hop right into the myCast story below and start voting and making suggestions:
Fallout (Series)
The new Fallout series launches launches April 11 2024. This is a fan casting for the show based on one of the greatest video games of all time. Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them above.

Fallout on Prime: A Blessing from the Overseer
The Fallout video game is making the leap from console to screen, and Amazon Prime is behind the wheel. With the show's plot still shrouded in Vault-Tec levels of secrecy, details are sparse, but the hype? Oh, it's real.
As the trailers are released we learn more about the story, and IMBD lists the basics about the production team and the main cast members. Here are some basics we all know:
- Jonathan Nolan (Westworld) is directing at least some of the episodes.
-
John Papsidera (Yellowstone) is the casting director and at first glance has done a great job.
- Ella Purnell is playing a seemingly innocent vault dweller named Lucy.
- Walton Goggins is a wasteland gunslinger named The Ghoul.
- Aaron Moten is a power armor-wearing soldier in the Brotherhood of Steel named Maximus.
We'll learn more as the show gets closer to launch on April 11, 2024.
What really gets us excited is the potential this series has to capture the wild Fallout world we all love.
Keep an eye out for an easter eggs you find while watching the show and tag us on social media: #mycast.
I'm personally hoping they sneak in a cameo from known bunker-dweller Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt).
Fallout at SXSW 2024: A Wastelander's Diary
The Prime marketing team went all out at SXSW 2024. The exterior and parking lot of a local hotel in Austin, TX was transformed into the temporary wasteland called Filly.
After passing through security, our guide gave us a speech highlighting the activities we can participate it a the different shops in Filly. She was an actor in a rugged costume as a citizen of the Filly wasteland city.
At the end of her talk she handed us all a few caps... literal Nuka-Cola bottle caps.
The atmosphere sparked with each item we found that connected the game and show to the real world.
The citizens of Filly were basically like the NPC's in a Fallout game that give you side quests to earn experience or caps. One Filly citizen tried to trade with me for caps, but I had nothing to give and was taken off gaurd by what was happening. They gave me a single sympathy cap and moved on after insulting me. Appropriate behavior if you've played Fallout.
Another citizen played a game of cups where you had to guess which cup had an eyeball in it. I bet 1 cap and won a few extra!
Others would just say a simple scripted line as they walked past, much like an in-game NPC would do. A large man carrying a stick told me to "Shut the F***, up." as he slowly walked by. Classic Fallout NPC vibes.
It made the experience feel as close to being in a live version of a Fallout video game as possible. We were there, camera in hand, trying to remember to capture the sights and sounds as we joined in the activities.
Wrapping Up with a RadAway
SXSW 2024 gave me a glimpse of what's to come, and let me tell you, the hype is justified. With a world as rich and twisted as Fallout's, the possibilities are endless. With Amazon Prime at the helm, I'm betting on a series that'll have us all glued to our screens, wearing our Pip-Boys with pride.
Even though "war never changes", you can always change the cast of any movie, series, book, or video game on mycast! Let's get to it!
