Penelope the Yellow-Footed Tortoise appeared in The Animal Show episode "Jaguar & Tortoise". She told Stinky and Jake about tortoises and how they are a part of the food chain. Before the tortoise puppet moved on to this, it slowly popped up as an interviewee on one of Rhonda Rat's segments. It also appeared in a variety of Henson productions such as Bear in the Big Blue House (as Jeremiah Tortoise), as well as Kermit's Swamp Years (as one of the animals at Wilson's Pet Store), and featured on Puppet Up! shows. The puppet was later repurposed (with Muppet eyes) in Sesame Street Episode 5133.
