Masao Sato

Masao Sato is the smallest member of Kasukabe Defence Force. He is known to be a scaredy cat and a cry baby. He is also a "clean freak" Shin-chan and Nene sometimes bully him but not in a bad way. For example, when Masao show his friends he had kept a four leaf clover which proves to had bring him luck, Shin-chan and Nene steal the leaf and fight for it until the leaf tore apart which made Masao cry. Shin-chan and Nene always scold him and made him cry while Kazama and Bo calm him down and comforted him. His nickname isOnigiri" due to his shaven head's resemblance to a rice ball, and there are several moments where Shin-chan accidentally mistook Masao's head for rice ball and even try to eat it. The people ople that bully him use it as a put-down. His hobby is to write comics. Masao is in love with Ai and jealous at Shin-chan because Ai loves Shin-chan but they are still best friends. His father owns a supermarket from which all his friends buy material. He is known as Max in the Vitello and Phuuz dubs. He is known as Maso Sato in the Funimation dub. The Funimation website says that Maso is like "Linus without his blanket."[3] The dub features a running joke implying that Maso is gay, due to his timid and occasionally effeminate nature.
