Joe Siracusa is a sound effects designer and editor who started out as a drummer for Spike Jones's band. In 1959, he was hired by Jay Ward Productions as a sound designer and editor for The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, creating many of the show's distinctive sound effects. Two years later, he moved to Format Films, where he did editing on The Alvin Show, The Lone Ranger and several mid-60's Looney Tunes. Then in 1971, he moved to Producers' Sound Service, now exclusively doing sound editorial for DePatie-Freleng Enterprises. In the early 80s when the studio was reorganized into Marvel Productions, Siracusa continued to work for them until his retirement in the mid-80s. He uses the Jay Ward sounds as his trademark, having created many of them, but would also use the Looney Tunes sounds for the Looney Tunes and later DePatie-Freleng works, where he'd also use some Hanna-Barbera sounds that were part of Producers' Sound Service's library.
