Isobel Grey, Baroness Merton (née Turnbull, previously Crawley; born between 1853 and 1862), known mostly as just Isobel or Mrs. Crawley for most of Downton Abbey, is a doctor's daughter and a member by marriage of the Crawley and Grey families; the former through her late husband, Dr. Reginald Crawley, her late son, Matthew Crawley's, marriage to the aristocratic Lady Mary Crawley, and through her grandson, George Crawley. In 1925, she married the Baron Merton, and became the stepmother of Larry Grey and Timothy Grey.
