Emmy nominated actress Donshea Hopkins began acting at the tender age of 4 years old. She got her start on the PBS show Sesame Street. Over the years she had a brief stint on the David Letterman Show on CBS where she appeared in a variety of sketches. Donshea rose to fame for her portrayal of Raina St. Patrick on the Starz crime drama Power. She also made several appearances on the Netflix original series Orange is the New Black as Monica Hayes. She also portrayed Bobbi Kristina Brown in The Bobby Brown Story on BET. She guest starred as Chase in season 2 of the TBS comedy series The Detour. And made a brief guest appearance as Ebony in the Comedy Central series The Other Two. Aside from acting Donshea Hopkins is singer-songwriter and has been writing and producing music since she was 12 years old. She also plays multiple instruments such as the guitar, piano, drums, harmonica, and trombone. She went to James Madison High School and graduated with honors, she earned DEAC’s 2020 Graduate of the Year. In 2024 she graduated with honors from the University of Mount Saint Vincent undergraduate college with a Bachelor’s of Arts in History and General Science. Donshea is also a creative writer as well. She runs two small businesses, TeamDonshea Productions a multimedia production company, and Donshea & Co. an upscaled gender neutral clothing company. In 2022, she started developing a series of pop up and delivery meals under her brand Donshea & Co. Kitchen. Where she veganizes classic comfort dishes and international favorites. On her social media accounts she host #TalkwithDonsheaTuesday an interactive activity where she engages with her fan base and their FAQs. In 2020, she started Quarantine Convos with Donshea, a weekly Instagram live talk show where she discusses world news, trending and controversial topics, and interviews a range of guests from politicians to fans. Fun facts: She was nominated for an Emmy for her work as Bobbi Kristina Brown in The Bobby Brown Story. She has pet turtles and a dog. She’s vegan. In her spare time she’s an activist and advocate for marginalized groups. She’s a huge Sci-fi and horror nerd. One of her favorite film franchises is Marvel. Her go to movie order is Popcorn with extra vegan butter, a Coke Zero, and Watermelon Sour Patches. She’s a born and bred New Yorker, but her family has deep roots in the south, hailing from Benettesville, South Carolina and Macon, Mississippi. According to her Ancestry and 23andMe she has Native American/American Indian, Asian, West African, and European roots. Which explains the last name Hopkins. She is believed to be related to Malcom Little (Malcom X) and abolitionist John Hopkins. She is a member of three different honor societies: Phi Alpha Theta (Historian Society), Sigma Alpha Pi (National Society of Leadership and Success), and Kappa Gamma Pi (Catholic Honor Society)
