During the 1840 Seminole Wars in Florida, Quincy Wyatt is an army captain who leads a small force to attack gun runners who are supplying the enemy. Successful in the mission, his force are now the target of the Seminoles, led by Chief Oscala, whose knowledge of the Everglades is superior to that of the retreating army force. Wyatt struggles to keep his men together and safe from natural perils as well as enemy attacks.
