3,000 years ago, a powerful Pharaoh named Atem used shadow magic to seal away an entity named Zorc along with seven items known as the Millennium Items. He also sacrifices himself by sealing his soul in the Millennium Puzzle. 3,000 years later, in modern day Domino City, Japan, 16 year-old Yugi Muto is the current owner of the Millennium Puzzle and has been trying to solve it with little success. That all changes when he stands up for local bullies Joey Wheeler and Tristan Taylor. Let the games begin!
