The third season of the show essentially got a new coat of paint from new showrunner Mike Flanagan, and somewhat being a soft reboot, but still felt like a proper successor to its first two seasons with its themes. It has a focus on the character of Vajahnari from the main show, along with older Who characters: the Black and White Guardians (Duncan Fraser). In addition, the character of Amanda Theodore from the Fourteenth Doctor era returns, knowing The Doctor but her not knowing him. Additionally, Kate Siegel and Brandon P. Bell joined as two new characters. The writers room for the series were mainly Doctor Who regulars as to keep it in line with the world of the various shows. Flanagan directed every episode, in addition to co-writing each episode due to heavy script rewrites from all the scripts he got back from the hired writers that he did not hire. The season was marketed as being very different, to keep its distance from the first two series, as they were quite mixed, hence the subtitle. The title sequence became a short title card with a slightly new theme tune to fit with the darker and more horrific tone. The season aired in two halves, the first from Episode 1-6 and the second from Episode 7-10. The episodes this season are Whispers in the Dark, Protocol 5, Wolthorpe Castle, Vajahnari's Gift, The Battle for the Universe, Guardians, Time's End, Last Chance, The Definition of Death, and Zakaktrantan.
