The fifth (and what turned out to be the final) series of Doctor Who: Adventures was commissioned with all twenty episodes getting aired as one full series rather than being split into two separate series like before. With no announcement that they were getting a series 6, Phil Ford ultimately decided to give the show a proper ending, with enough ambiguity if they ever did return to the series.
