Serving in a long lineage of military men, Dru-Zod proved to be a brilliant soldier, able to fight off Brainiac when he took Kandor from Krypton. But when Krypton was doomed, he believed in Jor-El's words, and took the now simple scientist Non as well as his lover Ursa, to lead an attempted coup. For this, they were sentenced to the Phantom Zone by Jor-El himself. Eventually finding their way from the Zone thanks to Fort Rozz being transported to the Zone, Zod used it as a staging ground. After losing so much, Zod now seeks revenge not just against Superman, but ALL humanity!
