The first agent of God's vengeance, Galid was more known for wrath than he was vengeance. As God changed his methods to be more balanced, Galid was stripped of his position and replaced by the Spectre, leading the two to battle before he was sealed into the dark side of the moon. However, Galid's evil was trapped in the Heart of Darkness, a powerful diamond form Apokolips, and when it shattered, Dr. Bruce Gordon found a piece of it and became bound to Galid, now calling himself Eclipso. Eclipso continues his schemes, seeking to end all life as vengeance against God for casting him aside.
