For years, Jackson Hyde lived in Silver City, New Mexico, being taught to fear water by his foster parents, in the fear his biological father would find him. After a chance encounter with Aquaman, Jackson would learn his biological father was David Kane, better known as Black Manta. Attacked by his biological father, Jackson would eventually take on the mantle of Aqualad, and even if he still is trying to get the hang of being a superhero, Jackson hopes to be able to make up for his father's crimes with Aquaman and with the Teen Titans too.
