Lucien Fairen stumbled upon a strange golden gem while on a dig for his paleontology class. The energy of the gem transformed him into the Gold Dino Ranger. Learning the the gem was the legendary Golden Dino Gem, imbued with the DNA of the Spinosaurus, the new Gold Ranger joined the Dino Thunder adding his light-control powers and SpinoZord to the teams' might.
