General Umbra targets the original Rangers, believing them to be the key to the “Cursed Flame,” a source of infinite power created during Bansheera’s fall. Joel (Green Ranger), now a stunt pilot, is attacked mid-air. Kelsey (Yellow Ranger), now a rock climbing instructor and rescue athlete, helps save him. Emotional reunions and sparks of unresolved relationships arise. A new villain, General Umbra, emerges—an ancient warlord banished to the Shadow World when Bansheera was defeated. He seeks revenge and a new empire on Earth. General Umbra resurrects mutated versions of old monsters (like Diabolico and Loki) as shadow clones. The old Rangers must morph again using upgraded Neo-Lightspeed Morphers. Carter Grayson, now Fire Chief, investigates strange supernatural fires with no natural cause. Dana Mitchell, now head of a secret Lightspeed Medical Research unit, detects dimensional energy spikes matching Queen Bansheera’s realm. The old team is summoned back by a rebuilt Lightspeed Command Center, now run by Ryan Mitchell, who has taken over as Captain of Lightspeed.
