The leader of The Round Table Council and a trustful ally of the Cross Organization, notably being close friends with Eleanor's father, Arthur Cross. He is a man of cool, calm, and strict character.

Although Hawthorne was critical of the way Eleanor handled things, he cared for her. Due to his close relationship with Arthur, he became Eleanor's guardian and guide as this story took place in the earlier years of her leadership in the Cross Organization.
Hawthorne is also proud of Eleanor's development, describing her as the Round Table Council's "lass," and was sure that she was still trying her hardest.
