After fleeing from Apokolips, Mister Miracle and Big Barda finally find peace on Earth, settling into a quiet life away from their past. Their happiness is short-lived when the Female Furies arrive, sent by Darkseid to bring the couple back to Apokolips. Forced to face their pasts, the two must fight to protect each other and their dreams of having a happy family. As they battle familiar enemies, Mister Miracle and Big Barda are confronted with their emotional scars they thought they'd left behind on Apokolips.
