Story Plot

Brilliant scientist Saul Erdel is testing a device that will allow him to communicate with other planets, when a beam caused by the machine accidentally teleports an alien known as J'onn J'onzz to Erdel's hometown of Denver, Colorado. J'onn J'onzz is one of Mars' last survivors, the first natural-born green martian in the White Martian race of humanoids who has lost most of his family to his twin brother Ma'alefa'ak, who was born with a resistance to fire, the weakness of the green Martians. When the arrival of J'onn destroys his machine and the notes as well, leaving J'onn stranded on Earth, Erdel has no choice but to become the Martian's mentor and encourages J'onn to help the people of Earth with his shape-shifting and ghostly powers. Taking the guise of police detective John Jones, J'onn must now stop Ma'alefa'ak from conquering Earth, becoming the Martian Manhunter, a bizarre but kind-hearted hero.

    In this version, Dr. Erdel acts as a sort of mentor to the Manhunter, providing him guidance and hope, instead of the original where the poor fellow died of a fatal heart attack.

    @mr_blue_sky Interesting, I may take that approach when i do my Martian Manhunter story in my dcu in just a bit.
