Fan Casting Lord of Light

"Lord of Light" by Roger Zelazny tells the story of a far-future colony planet where the original human colonists, having mastered advanced technology for reincarnation and biofeedback, have established themselves as Hindu gods, maintaining a medieval society through technological suppression. One of these "gods," Sam (originally Siddhartha), rebels against this system, seeking to liberate humanity from the gods' control and advance technology. The novel explores themes of rebellion, colonialism, and the nature of gods and humanity, all set against a backdrop of science fantasy and Hindu mythology.
